Equine and Equistrian artist Helen Hayse (1913-2003) renowned in the Equine world primarily in Saddlebreds and Thoroughbreds did this study for the High Hope painting. This extremely rare oil painting is 24"x30" on stretched canvas. Derby horses Rumroc and Turtle Head race across the Iroquois Hunt Club in 1983. This painting is signed by the artist on the front and on the back with name of horses.
Helen and I used to paint together in Lexington where she lived in an old Victorian house on North Broadway that had been owned by a daughter of a soldier who rode in Morgan's Raiders.
