Helen Hayse's "Ruffian" an artist proof print, signed in pencil and stamped we only have six prints very rare.  Renowned Equine and Equestrian artist Helen Hayse, was the official artist for the World Championship Horse Show in Louisville, Kentucky during the State Fair in August.  This show have a variety of horses from miniatures to draft, but the horses that Helen designed on the covers were The American Saddlebreds.  Helen Hayse also painted thoroughbreds like Man o'War, Secretariat, and this one of Ruffian, the filly that broke down in a match race, she had to be destroyed due to thrashing coming out of surgery which was similar to Barbaro's.   Unfortunately back then they did not have the water recovery.
